Sister Jean (John Venard) McSweeney, OP, died June 28, 2022. She later served her Community by ministering as Eastern Regional Coordinator and, later, as Coordinator of Rosary Manor. She was curious and loved Scripture, reading, and being with her family. Sister Lorraine Gallagher, OP (also known as Sister James Helene) of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, died at St Catherine of Siena Convent, Caldwell, New Jersey. Sr. Joan continued to work for peace and unity after her retirement. She prepared prayer services on Christian Unity and the Quran, as well as attending services in various Christian churches. She returned to the Motherhouse to work with children in the preschool program and then used her computer skills as support staff at the Motherhouse in the Office of Development with the Honors and Memorials program; at Regina High School, Minneapolis, in the business office; and at St. Jude Convent, Montgomery, AL, as bookkeeper. Sr. Mary Ann has been described as determined, persistent, honest, and indomitable. She served God and Gods church as a Dominican Sister for 72 years. The Sisters live among Gods people sharing hope and joy, striving to live in a way that calls others to know, love and follow our brother Jesus. Below is an interview with her from October 2014. She studied Physics and Radiobiology as well, and put that study to good use in her long ministry of education. Sister Frances Schier, OP (formerly Sister Leo Marie) of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, died November 25, 2015 in Caldwell, NJ at the St. Catherine of Siena Convent. This year, 2022, marks Sister Patricia Catlett's 70th anniversary in the order of the Dominican Sisters of Hope. She was strict and had high expectations but was respected as well. She is survived by her sister Winifred Winnie Becker, several nieces and nephews and members of her congregation. She made profession in 1967 as a Dominican Sister of Kenosha and transferred her religious vows to the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa in 1997. Sister Barbara (Walthier) Bell, OP, died Jan 17, 2022.
